About 12 years ago, Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) fought his way through a zombie-invaded world, or what the characters of the TV series The Walking Dead (2010-2022) called “Walker”. Since then, viewers have been presented with a world where “survival of the fittest” meant not just escaping strays, but knowing who to trust and who could potentially pose a dangerous threat.
The TV series also branched out into spinoffs like Fear The Walking Dead, offering opportunities to expand into different character arcs only introduced in The Walking Dead. Over the 11 seasons, some characters rose to the top of the show, while others only made brief appearances for a few episodes.
Wynn Everett (Season 11, Episode 14)
In Season 11, Episode 14, Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Rosita (Christian Serratus) trained as Commonwealth soldiers were sent on a separate mission on Sebastian’s orders. Her job was to retrieve money locked in a safe in a house surrounded by Walkers. As Daryl and Rosita covered themselves in Walker’s blood and entered the home, they heard a woman scream for help.
The woman who called for help was April (Wynn Everett) who was locked in a room after the generators cut power to the entire house. As Daryl turned on the generators, he and Rosita freed the woman and got the money from the safe. Unfortunately April was unable to safely pass the Walkers and she was killed in the house.

Medina Senghore (Season 11, Episode 13)
Medina Senghore The first appearance in the TV series was in Season 11 Episode 13. Her character, Annie Smith, was one of the residents of the apartment complex where Aaron (Ross Marquard) and the Commonwealth soldiers tried to talk to them. While Aaron offered an opportunity to establish a trading relationship with the residents, the leader of the Commonwealth forces, Carlson, wanted the residents to return their weapons.
Carlson picked up the residents one by one and pushed them off the roof of the building. Annie Smith teamed up with Maggie to hold off the Commonwealth soldiers. During this time, Annie Smith informed Maggie that she is pregnant while Negan told the rest of the group that Annie was his wife. Once Lauren Cohans Character, Maggie, realizing who Annie was and how Negan was changing, slowly began to trust him.
Hilarie Burton (Season 10, Episode 22)
Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) first appearing on The Walking Dead in Season 6 Episode 16, “Last Day on Earth”, he made sure Rick’s group knew he was someone not to be messed with. Throughout the show, Morgan’s character, Negan, was unpredictable, but eventually became more of an ally than an enemy to Daryl and Maggie’s group.
Little was known about Negan’s past until Season 10, Episode 22, which featured a flashback to the early beginnings of the zombie apocalypse. Hilari Burton played Lucille, Negan’s wife, who was diagnosed with cancer. Negan took care of his wife after she shared her diagnosis with him, but Lucille felt that she was running out of time and committed suicide.
Robert Patrick (Season 10, Episode 19)
In Season 10, Episode 19, Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Aaron were looking for supplies using a map Maggie drew for them and came across a warehouse. This camp was presumably empty with only one wild boar for them to kill and eat that day. After resting for a few hours, Gabriel woke up and saw a man named Mays (Robert Patrick) to question her.
Mays held Gabriel and Aaron at gunpoint and forced them to play a game of Russian roulette. Gabriel spoke to Mays and explained that there was a chance Mays could be saved, all he had to do was release her. Mays lowered his gun and agreed to free her. However, at that moment Gabriel no longer believed that everyone could be redeemed as he killed Mays.
Christopher Berry (Season 6, Episode 8)
Christopher Berry portrayed a lead biker who worked for Negan. Towards the end of Season 6 Episode 8, Daryl, Sasha and Abraham were driving towards Alexandria in a truck until a group of bikers blocked the road. In the following episode, the lead biker demanded that they hand over their supplies, stating that the supplies belonged to Negan.
Sasha and Abraham stood in front of the truck as the men drew guns on them. Sasha wanted to talk to the men, but the men didn’t want to talk about it. Before the biker gang had a chance to shoot them, Daryl shot them with an RPG he found on the truck.
John Carroll Lynch (Season 6, Episode 4)
Season 6 Episode 4 “Here’s Not Here” focused on flashbacks, thus providing more viewers with more information about Morgan (lennie james). Morgan found a cabin in the woods that belonged to a former psychiatrist named Eastman (John Carroll Lynch). Eastman appeared a friendly man and offered Morgan food upon meeting him.
Although Eastman appeared for one episode of the series, he was a key figure in helping Morgan get through the inner pain buried deep within him. When Morgan first attacked him, Eastman never kept Morgan locked in the cell and allowed him to leave whenever he wanted. However, Eastman was bitten by a walker near the end of the episode.
Enver Gjokaj (Season 4, Episode 7)
Enver Gjokajs Character, Pete Dolgan, appeared as the new leader of the Martinez group in Season 4 Episode 7. The Governor (David Morrissey), Mitch (Kirk Acevedo), Martinez (Jose Pablo Cantillo) and Pete run through a forest looking for any supplies they could find. Pete and the governor disagreed over issues such as robbing supplies from a nearby warehouse.
After the governor kills Martinez during a golf game, he tells Pete they need to talk about Mitch. Not knowing what his true intentions were, Pete invited the governor into the RV. When Pete turned, the governor stabbed him and dumped his body in a pond.
Alexa Nikolas (Season 3, Episode 6)
Viewers might recognize it Alex Nicholas as the actress who played Nicole Bristow in one of the popular teen shows from the 2000s, Zoey 101. In Season 3 of The Walking Dead, Nikolas played Haley, a teenager living in Woodbury, Georgia. She was a member of the Woodbury Army and was one of the characters Andrea met (Laurie Holden) after Andrea insisted she can defend the town from strays.
Haley didn’t last long on the show, although she was one of the people who taught Andrea how to use a bow as part of the responsibilities of those who worked on the wall. In Season 3 Episode 9, she was tasked with finding the group of people who infiltrated the Woodbury Army. This was her last episode when she was shot by Maggie.
Michael Raymond James (Season 2, Episode 8)
Michael Raymond James Character made a brief appearance in Season 2 Episode 8 “Nebraska”. After Rick and Glenn explore an abandoned town (Steven Yeun) found Hershel (Scott Wilson) drinking alone in a bar. As they approached and spoke to Hershel, who had lost hope, two men, Dave and Tony (Aaron Munoz), approached the bar.
Dave negotiated with Rick, insisting he would be a valuable member of Rick’s group. While Dave tried to convince Rick that they were on the same page, Rick didn’t believe them. Rick explained that there was no way for them to find safety on their farm. Dave pulled for his gun but Rick was quicker and fired at him and Tony. Rick’s decision to shoot her is justified, making this one of the few moments where Rick made the right decision on The Walking Dead.
