If you want to believe… look at the stars.
Before they became stars, countless actors had their shot at greatness guest-starring on one of the top television shows of the 1990s: X-Files. Created by Chris Carter, the series follows two FBI special agents with very different views on the supernatural and extraterrestrial. David Duchovny played Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson played Dana Scully, two performers catapulted into the realms of massive stardom because of the show itself.
But Anderson and Duchovny weren’t the only two people following theX-Files. After eleven seasons and two feature films X-Files produced countless impressive guests who eventually became big stars. While the series also featured excellent performances from horror icons like Tony Todd and Bruce Campbell, today I’m taking a walk through ten different celebs who appeared on the show before it made it big. Check them out now.
Seth Green
Season 1 Episode 2 of X-Files imagined future Buffy and family Guy Star Seth Green. In “Deep Throat,” Green starred as an alien cannabis enthusiast with horrific facial hair.
AaronPaul
Long before breaking BadAaron Paul showed up X-Files as the particularly creepy freak of the week. In Season 9 Episode 4 “Lord of the Flies” Paul played an evil teenager who could control insects with his mind. creepy stuff
JackBlack
In the Season 3 episode “DPO,” Black appeared as an arcade worker with a goofy attitude. The character has a bit of a pathetic energy and it’s wild to see Black so young and fresh. Also, the character’s name was Zero, and that’s cool. Jack Black forever.
Ryan Reynolds
Canadian superhero Ryan Reynolds appears in one of the best episodes of X-Files. “Syzygy” sees the actor falling victim to two iconic teenage girls who are also murderous psychics. Get on.
Shia LeBeouf
In the Season 7 episode “The Goldberg Variation,” a very young LeBeouf appears and it’s a head trip. Pretty shocking to see the controversial guest star on this show as a kid, long before Disney’s Even Stevens.
Lucy Liu
the Alley McBeal icon was on X-Files towards the end of the third season episode “Hell Money”. Liu became one of the biggest stars of her generation, even starring in the recent CBS All Access hit series Why women kill.
Luke Wilson
You may remember that Wilson appeared in the vampire episode Bad Blood. In the satirical episode, Wilson portrayed a sexy sheriff in this fifth season episode. I kind of wish there was more vampire content via X-Filesdon’t sue me
Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston guest-starred in one of the most interesting episodes ever made in the ’90s. Before he played Walter White breaking Bad, Cranston played a man who had no choice but to drive his car west. And when he stops, he dies. very Twilight Zone. Watch the season 6 episode “Drive” if you haven’t already.
Octavia Spencer
In a Season 7 episode, Octavia Spencer appears as a character named Nurse Octavia. Why not? This future Oscar winner is also a horror icon, having appeared in Polarization mom. Say what you want momSpencer knocked it out of the park.
Tony Schalhoub
Far earlier monk and far before The wonderful Mrs. Maisel Tony Shalhoub showed up at the end of the second season of X-Files. In the episode “Soft Light” he portrayed an eccentric scientist named Dr. banton
