Steeped in history, the peace and tranquility offered by stunning Ham Stone countryside and villages make Somerset a popular retreat for the rich and famous.
But it was also the home of many children who were unknown at the time but would one day grow into celebrities.
From actors to musicians, journalists to TV personalities, educational institutions across the county have trained many youth who would one day grace screens big and small.

Actress Sarah Parish is best known for her work on television shows such as Peak Practice, Cutting It, Doctor Who, W1A, Bancroft and Broadchurch
Born in Yeovil, she attended the local Preston School and Yeovil College.
The 54-year-old, who started acting from a young age, believes her first stage appearance was a pantomime in Tintinhull, later attending the Yeovil Youth Theatre.

Singer/songwriter Ella Eyre is known for her collaborations with Rudimental, DJ Fresh and with Sigala.
Born and raised in west London, the 28-year-old trained as a competitive swimmer before taking up singing professionally.
Educated at Millfield School, she said she only went there thanks to a “massive swimming scholarship.”
Alexandra “Binky” Felstead
Alexandra “Binky” Felstead, best known for her appearances in “Made in Chelsea”, received her A-levels in Art and Photography from Taunton School.
The 32-year-old has also appeared on celebrity versions of shows including The 100k Drop, Celebs go Dating and The Crystal Maze.
Chris Marshall
You may know stage and screen actor Kris Marshall from shows like My Family, Citizen Khan and Death in Paradise. He was also the face of a popular commercial series for BT.
Rom Com fans will also remember the actor for his role in the classic 2003 film Love Actually.
Born in Bath, the 49-year-old was educated at Wells Catherdral School and followed in the footsteps of one of Somerset’s most famous sons, Glastonbury Festival creator Michael Eavis.
Dominik Holz
Dominic Wood, better known as one half of the Dick and Dom duo, is an entertainer, magician and presenter.
Once the youngest member of The Magic Circle, Wood’s first official appearance on television was on CBBC’s Friday afternoon children’s program Friday Zone in 1996, and later presented the CBBC Broom Cupboard and the CITV game show Jungle Run.
Best known for the show Dick & Dom in da Bungalow, it won two BAFTAs for Best Presenter and Best Children’s Entertainment.
The 44-year-old is a graduate of King’s College, Taunton.
Maisie Williams
Actress Maisie Williams is best known for playing Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, and received two Emmy nominations for the role.
Recently, the 25-year-old portrayed punk rock icon Jordan in Pistol, a biopic about the Sex Pistols.
Born in Bristol, she was raised by her mother and stepfather in Clutton, where she attended Clutton Primary School and Norton Hill School at Midsomer Norton School. She later transferred to Bath Dance College to study performing arts.
John Sergeant
TV and radio journalist John Sergeant was the `’s Chief Political Correspondent from 1992 to 2000 and Political Editor of ITN from 2000 to 2002.
The 78-year-old grew up in a variety of places, including Jerusalem and Oxford, and was educated first in Oxfordshire and later at Millfield School in Street.
Juno Temple
Actor Juno Temple has appeared in a variety of films including Atonement, The Other Boleyn Girl, The Dark Knight Rises, and Maleficent.
The 33-year-old received a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2013 and was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role as Keeley Jones in Ted Lasso.
She grew up in Taunton, Somerset, where she attended Enmore Primary School in Bridgwater and King’s College Taunton.
Madeleine Harris
Madeleine Harris, best known for playing Judy Brown on Paddington and Karen on the sitcom Man Down, got her first acting job at Casualty.
The child star later played 460-year-old vampire Hetty on the TV series Being Human.
The 21-year-old grew up in London and Shepton Mallet and attended Whitstone School.
Lily Allen
Singer/songwriter and actress Lily Allen is the daughter of actor Keith Allen.
The 37-year-old’s first mainstream single, ‘Smile’, hit number one on the UK Singles Chart from her debut album ‘Alright, Still’, selling more than 2.6 million copies worldwide and earning Grammy Award nominations and the Brit Awards, and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Allen was a student at Millfield School, among other prestigious private schools.
