Ben Affleck’s first acting role was in 1981’s The Dark End of the Street, but most of us don’t remember him until he played roles in 1997’s Chasing Amy and Good Will Hunting. Before breaking into the world of acting, he starred in numerous TV shows and films, including a 1989 Burger King commercial.
DoorDash didn’t exist in 1989, but an upbeat young lady still calls Burger King and asks for a chef’s salad to be delivered. She’s lucky because the person on the other end of her miss is Ben Affleck. He has a car phone (very fancy!) and a deep desire to meet the girl on the other end of the line. So he poses as Burger King and delivers the burger himself. Unfortunately, he can’t even get into conversation with the young lady because he has to run back to the car to take a call from his father.
When Drew Barrymore interviewed Affleck on Drew and spoke about this commercial, Affleck said, “If I had known the commercial was going to get that kind of response, I would have been a lot more optimistic about my career.” He said, ” My director almost fired me and now I understand why.” While filming the commercial, he revealed he was only 16 and new to driving, but reassured the director and crew of his driving skills by saying : “Guys, I’ve driven about 500 or 1,000 miles.” What blind faith!
