13 Celebrities Who Met While They Were Behind Bars

“You don’t meet guys like that every day outside. This place is incredible,” Ja Rule said in prison.

Life behind bars isn’t easy, even if you are a celebrity. While prisoners in fairly harsh conditions spend a lot of time reflecting on their wrongdoing, there is also the opportunity to socialize with others in the same situation.

And for a few stars who were locked up, they actually got a chance to meet some other famous faces. Although they may not have formed lifelong friendships with their prison mates, they were presented with the opportunity to change their lives together.

Find out which celebs met in prison…

1. Mr. Shah & Elizabeth Holmes

Former Real Housewives star Jen Shah has become close to Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes while both are incarcerated in a Texas prison. According to Jen’s rep, she teaches fitness classes and takes on a motherly role to Elizabeth, who is 10 years younger.

“They are friends. They are both in the rehabilitation phase and have come together on this journey of positive change. Their situations have brought them together and they have a good understanding of each other. “They’ll get through this together,” Jen’s spokesperson says People.

He added: “Jen gave her a lot of advice. She even met and held Elizabeth’s baby.”

2. Todd Chrisley & Rick Singer

Todd Chrisley and college admissions scandal mastermind Rick Singer are both at FPC Pensacola in Florida. Although the two are not close friends, Todd’s daughter Savannah says the men’s paths have crossed. Todd reportedly even gave Rick some advice about the book he’s writing.

“Dad said, ‘Make sure you don’t skip the chapter where you ratted everyone out.’ He’s like the president of this place,” Savannah said during an appearance on The Viall Files Podcast.

3. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino & Billy McFarland

When Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was in prison, he met Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland. Mike says that while Billy was “very quiet” and “reserved” during their time in prison, he was eventually sent to solitary housing because he tried to smuggle in a recording device.

“He said ‘Hello,’ but he wasn’t part of my circle of friends. I may have played basketball and softball against him, but then he got kicked out of prison,” Mike said on the show It happens with Snooki & Joey Podcast.

4. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino & Michael Cohen

While in prison, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino also met Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen. After his release, Mike claimed that he tried to get Michael to sneak him some more chicken from the cafeteria.

“Pretty much the most important thing in prison is the food. A lot of the guys swap. They do business for food, and when Michael Cohen went to prison, I was like, ‘Okay. I heard he didn’t eat chicken.’ ‘”Mike said. “So I went straight to Michael Cohen and said, ‘Listen, Mike. You have to do something for me.’ This is his first day. He came in, you know? He said, “Anything, Mike! What do you need?” I said, ‘You have to smuggle chicken for me.'”

Even though Michael agreed to help, it doesn’t sound like things actually worked out. A representative for Michael later called the story “Self-promotion fiction with red sauce.”

5. And ruleAlan Hevesi & Dennis Kozlowski

While behind bars for gun possession and tax evasion, Ja Rule met former New York City Comptroller Alan Hevesi and former Tyco International CEO Dennis Kozlowski. Looking back, Ja Rule says the men watched TV together and talked about stocks.

6. Joe Giudice & Apollo Nida

When Real Housewives star Joe Giudice was in prison, he met his Bravo star Apollo Nida – Phaedra Parks’ ex-husband. Although Joe didn’t know about Apollo before they ended up in the same prison, the men had a chance to meet and hang out.

“Yeah, they met and Joe said he was really nice… My husband didn’t know who he was because he didn’t watch the show, so he met him when he got there and he was really nice.” They met each other, so it was nice. I don’t know if they’re in the same area, but they’ve definitely gotten to know each other. So Joe said he was a really cool guy,” Joe’s ex Teresa continued the Reality Checked radio show.
