Markle said she knew what her dress should look like from the moment she started working with Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller.
“I had a very clear idea of what I wanted for the day and what the dress should look like,” said the Duchess of Sussex, according to Brides. “The amazing thing about working with Clare is that sometimes designers try to push you in a different direction, but she just totally respected what I wanted to see for the day and she wanted to bring it to life for me. There are so many ways in which you can c -ture dreams that as a girl and as a woman you will think about for years. “
The dress was kept simple, but still made a statement thanks to the boat neckline. She paired it with a five-foot silk veil embroidered with California poppies, Markle’s home state, and flowers representing all 53 Commonwealth countries, a nod to her former role as a senior member of the royal family.
