The longest-running film festival in the world has started again on May 17th, this year it will again take place at full capacity without Covid-19 restrictions. The unmissable event on the Côte d’Azur showcases the best of international cinema and haute couture fashion on its famous red carpet that climbs the iconic steps of Cannes to the Palais des Festivals.
The 75th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival will pay tribute to Tom Cruise with Top Gun: Maverick premiering at the festival. Forest Whittaker accepted the Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival. Who will attend the 2022 Cannes Film Festival?
Cannes is known for its glamorous celebrity image, where film fans can catch a glimpse of high-profile stars as they stroll the Promenade de la Croisette. The customized outfits worn by the celebrities are comparable to those worn at the Oscars and the Met Gala.
Celebrities on this year’s jury, which will be chaired by French actor Vincent Lindon, include Asghar Farhadi, Rebecca Hall, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols, Deepika Padukone, Noomi Rapace, Joachim Trier and Jasmine Trinca.

Who was spotted on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival?
At the Top Gun: Maverick premiere, Tom Cruise was joined by Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller along with his wife Keleigh Sperry. Viola Davis, Elle Fanning, Jon Hamm and Eva Longoria also walked the red carpet ahead of the screening.
Actress Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba attended the premiere of George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, accompanied by Sabrina Elba. Shortly before her arrival, an unidentified woman ripped off her dress and ran onto the red carpet. The half-naked protester had the colors of the Ukrainian flag and the words STOP RAPEING US painted on her stomach, along with red handprints on her buttocks. Security wrapped her in a jacket and quickly escorted her away.

Tom Hanks will appear at the out-of-competition premiere of the biopic “Elvis” next week. He is joined by co-star Austin Butler and director Baz Luhrmann.
Other stars photographed so far on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet include Michael Fassbender, Julianne Moore, Julia Roberts and Jeremy Strong. Casey Affleck was joined by Caylee Cowan.
