When we think of rich and famous people, we often think of them as being born and raised in Hollywood or perhaps the art city of New York. However, some of the biggest music and movie stars hail from charming small towns in Kentucky, and our state is proud of its shining stars, born of humble roots.
1. George Clooney, Augusta
Actor George Clooney was born in Lexington but grew up in beautiful Augusta.
Large parts of Augusta have changed little since George Clooney was a child, as Augusta is known as a small town where time seems to have stood still. He and the city he grew up in seem timeless.

Although Owensboro is no longer the small town it once was like Johnny Depp, it grew from humble beginnings to great prominence and has many wonderful qualities that make it popular

Country musician Billy Ray Cyrus was born in the small town of Flatwoods, Kentucky.
Flatwoods seems to be a place full of legends. Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus and a local urban legend of the “Flatwoods Monster”. It’s also a beautiful little town in Kentucky.
4.Loretta Lynn, Butcher Hollow
Popular country superstar Loretta Lynn was born in Butcher’s Hollow.
Country music’s biggest name came from what was probably Kentucky’s smallest city. In this house the “daughter of the miner” was born. As this location is off the beaten path, we recommend booking a room in nearby Paintsville, where Loretta’s sister, Crystal Gayle, was born.
5.Dwight Yoakam, Pikeville
Country musician Dwight Yoakam was born in the beautiful small town of Pikeville.
It’s no surprise that another great country musician comes from Kentucky, but when this state does something well, it’s usually the best of the best. Pikeville may be a small, beautiful town, but it’s also strong. It literally moved mountains to survive.
