adam rich, a child star on ABC’s Eight Is Enough, has died aged 54.
After Lt. Aimee Earl of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Coroner’s OfficeRich died Saturday in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Although the cause of death was under investigation, it was not considered suspicious.
Danny DeraneyRich’s publicist, in a statement, described Rich as “just a wonderful guy.”
“He was kind, generous and a combatant in the fight against mental illness,” Deraney tweeted. “Adam didn’t have an ego at all. He was selfless and always cared about those he cared about. So many people who grew up with him feel lost and sad with part of their childhood today.”
“He really was America’s little brother,” concluded his rep.

Rich’s death was originally reported by TMZwho quoted a family member.
said Deraney The Associated Press that Rich was battling an incurable form of depression and had struggled to remove the stigma associated with discussing mental illness. He had maintained his sobriety despite years of trying unsuccessful experimental treatments.
Deraney claimed that they were concerned over the past few weeks when they were unable to reach Rich.
