Marriage can be a wonderful thing – but it's not for everyone, and some celebrities have had enough of it.
Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has declared she never wants to get married again despite being in a long-term relationship with Danny Taylor.
The 63-year-old opened up about her love life and reflected on her past relationships during a recent appearance on Alan Carr's Life's A Beach podcast.
She was married twice, first to former ballroom dancer Sammy Stopford from 1980 to 1984 and then to Corky Ballas from 1985 to 2007.
Ballas has been dating Taylor since 2019 after they met while working on a pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

On Carr's podcast, the former professional dancer said: “Two marriages, an engagement, two long-term relationships later and I won't get married again. I have made a decision.”
She also shared some relationship advice from her mother, adding, “My mother says [relationships are] like buses. You get in, you get out, it’s fine.”
After several attempts, Ballas joins a number of other celebrities who have sworn off marriage. These are all famous faces who have decided that marriage just isn't for them.

The former supermodel, who has been married before, famously told the Sunday Times last year that she had “no interest” in dating, let alone attempting marriage again.
Evangelista was previously married to French ex-model Gerard Marie from 1987 to 1993. She later became engaged to actor Kyle MacLachlan, but that fell through, and then entered into a relationship with billionaire businessman Francois-Henri Pinault. She has a 17-year-old son with Pinault.
She told the publication: “No interest. I don't want to sleep with anyone anymore. I don’t want to hear anyone breathing.”

Whoopi Goldberg has been married three times in the past. She was married to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, then to David Claessen from 1986 to 1988. Her last marriage was to Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995.

In an iconic response to the question of whether she would ever get married again, Goldberg told The New York Times in 2016, “No, I don't think I'm that interested.” I'm much happier alone.
“I can spend as much time with someone as I want, but I don't want to be with someone or live with someone forever. I don't want anyone in my house.
“I am the round peg and marriage is the square hole. You can’t have a square hole, can you?”

The 47-year-old National Treasure star has been married once before. She was married to Guillaume Canet from 2001 to 2006. After her marriage ended, she dated Joshua Jackson for a decade until she met and began dating Norman Reedus in 2016, with whom she shares a daughter.
She told Glamor in 2012, “Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There is no paper that forces you to stay.”

Jane Fonda, a longtime marriage veteran, has come to the conclusion that marital bliss is simply out of the question for her.
The 86-year-old “Grace and Frankie” star was married to Roger Vadim from 1965 to 1973, to Tom Hayden from 1973 to 1990 and to Ted Turner from 1991 to 2001.
In an interview with Page Six in 2021, Fonda reflected on her marriages, saying, “I'm going to tell you something that I haven't achieved, which is a successful marriage.” But the second part of your question is, “Do you want to?” I do not want.
“Look, I live alone,” the star continued. “I don't have a man who doesn't want a woman who's willing to be angry and who doesn't want a woman who's willing to be angry.”
“I don't threaten anyone. I can watch whatever I want on TV. That's why I never want to get married again. But I wish I had been better at it.”

The Hips Don't Lie singer was at the center of a messy split from Spanish footballer Gerard Pique in 2022 after 11 years together. She has two sons with Pique, but they were never married.
In 2020, she spoke about why the couple decided not to marry. In an interview with 60 Minutes, she said: “To tell you the truth, marriage scares the crap out of me. I don't want him to see me as a wife. I would rather he see me as his girlfriend.”

After three marriages, actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore has vowed to “never, never, never” get married again.
The Drew Barrymore Show host was married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995 and later to Tom Green from 2001 to 2002. Her longest marriage was to Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016.
She told People in 2020 that while she was a “hopeless romantic,” marriage was no longer something she wanted for herself.
“Never. Never never never. I will never get married again!” she explained. “And I also believe that people shouldn't say the word 'never' and I will never, with a capital letter, NEVER, ever get married.
“It's like I have two choices: break up – that didn't work – or be Elizabeth Taylor.” [who married eight times to seven men]. And I still have too many left. I never want to come into contact with someone like that again.
“You break up and move on. You get divorced and it's just so different. I think it's great that we're trying to stick to an institution [started] when the person closest to you as a comrade was a three-day ride away and your lifespan was 30 years.
