Buzz Aldrin marries Anca Faur on his 93rd birthday

Legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, announced Friday that he spent his 93rd birthday tying the knot with his “longtime love” Anca Faur in a small ceremony in Los Angeles.

“I am pleased to announce that my longtime love, Dr. Anca Faur and I tied the knot. We were joined in a sacred marriage,” Aldrin shared on Twitter, along with two photos of them in a tuxedo and robe. He added that he and his bride are “as excited as eloping teenagers.”

Aldrin said he was honored by the Living Legends of Aviation on the same day, making the day a three-in-one celebration.

This is Aldrin’s fourth marriage. He was initially married to Joan Ann Archer for two decades before divorcing in 1974. The next year he married his second wife Beverly Van Zile, they later divorced. His third marriage was to Lois Driggs Cannon on Valentine’s Day in 1988 before divorcing 23 years later.

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin took their historic walk on the lunar surface, fulfilling a vow made by the late President John F. Kennedy to send a manned crew to the Moon and return them safely to Earth. Michael Collins was the third member of the crew.
