So much for celebrity spotting: The venue for the Saint Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week was so dark that you practically had to feel your way to your seat.
A beam of camera flashes illuminated the area where Blackpink's Rosé was located. Kate Moss tried to introduce her to Charlotte Rampling. “You walk around with quite an entourage,” the veteran British actress admiringly told the K-pop star.
Diane Kruger was among the guests again after appearing on the Ami Show last month. The German-born actress started out as a model but now prefers to watch from the sidelines.
“It’s also better for my ego,” she joked. “Everyone is about a head and a half taller than you and probably half your age. It was disheartening.”
Turns out her latest project was pretty dark too. She will star in David Cronenberg's “The Shrouds,” the story of a grieving widower who builds a device to communicate with the dead in a shroud.
“The film is based on his personal life and the loss of his wife,” said Kruger, who plays three roles: the protagonist’s wife, his sister and a third character who is an avatar. The film is a hot tip for the Cannes Film Festival in May.
“It was a little intimidating for me because I obviously knew how much it meant to him. Just dealing with him, I wasn't quite sure how much to ask or not to ask,” she remembers. “He’s a very introverted director anyway, you know, he’s not the most outgoing person.”

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu basked in the glow of an anteroom where VIP guests – including her “Emily in Paris” co-stars Lily Collins, Zoë Kravitz, Yara Shahidi and Linda Evangelista – posed on a leather couch before plunging into the darkness .
With filming delayed due to writers' and actors' strikes, filming on the fourth season of Emily in Paris only recently resumed. As a result, it will be set in winter and the French capital has received plenty of rain.
“It was even more interesting to work on winter fashion,” explained Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Parisian Sylvie Grateau. “So we can deal with the gray weather and the rain.”
She was wrapped in an ankle-length brown leather coat designed by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello. “It makes us feel, I think, strong and at the same time a bit 'encombrant', as we say in French – it takes up space,” she said of her bulky shoulder pads.
The French actress paid tribute to Claude Montana, another king of power dressing, who died last week at the age of 76. “Claude Montana was a friend of my mother and I was deeply saddened by his death. “He was incredible for women, he contributed so much to women’s liberation,” she gushed.
Vaccarello's fall collection will offer a little less protection: the cinematic looks on the runway left nothing to the imagination. Guests in the front row split into two camps: those who loved the sheer style, camera flashes be damned, and those who covered up. The sight of Olivia Wilde posing outside in her sheer black backless tank top suggested that cold is just a way of thinking.
