Dame Arlene Phillips, Larry Lamb and Dr. Ranj are among the famous faces helping to launch the Action For Children charity’s Secret Santa campaign.
The celebrities will deliver heartfelt Christmas messages, encouraging the public to really do something for the less fortunate in times of economic hardship.
Each celebrity represents a ‘warm’ wish for children, collected directly from the charity’s frontline staff who provide vital services to struggling children, young people and their families across the UK.
Some of the desires are love, curiosity, friends, laughter, a warm home, a loving family, and good sanity.
Becoming a sprite allows the public to donate and provide children with essentials, with donations ranging from £5 for food to £125 for a bed.
Other high profile personalities involved in launching the campaign include Nadia Sawalha, Imogen Thomas and Saffron Barker, as well as Ranvir Singh, Louise Pentland, Anna Williamson, Chris Robshaw and Camilla Kerslake, as well as Kelvin and Liz Fletcher.
Gavin and Stacey star Lamb said he’s “incredibly proud” to have been involved with Action For Children for well over a decade.
“Our concern is more relevant than ever as so many children and their families are struggling with the cost of living crisis.
“Times are tough but if there’s one thing the British public is known for, it’s their generosity. Being a child’s secret Santa can help bring the magic back into their Christmas.”
Former strict judge Dame Arlene said: “Being a mother is one of my greatest achievements.
“Parenting can be a really tough job – our instinct is to protect our children. Children are smart and often feel tensions in the home, whether it’s because of parental conflicts or worrying about money.
“The thought of some children feeling like they have to carry the burden is heartbreaking. Becoming a Secret Santa can help the charity continue their important work.”
Other gifts available to the public include toys and books at £15, Christmas gifts at £25 and warm winter clothes at £40.
Last year the charity supported over 670,000 children, young people and families in Great Britain.
