Ozempic has become a hot topic when it comes to weight loss – some stars confirm they’ve used the drug, while others have denied it.
The drug for type 2 diabetes, traditionally used to improve glycemic control, has made headlines because various Hollywood stars are said to be using it to shed pounds quickly. like stars Chelsea handler, Kyle Richards and more have talked about the dieting trend.
For her part, Handler admitted during an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in January 2023 that she unknowingly took the medication. She explained that her anti-aging doctor prescribed something called Semaglutide, which is another name for Ozempic.
The Chelsea Lately former claimed her doctor told her the medicine was good to use if she wanted to “lose five pounds”. The comedian didn’t know what the drug was until a friend informed her.
“I came back from holiday and injected myself,” the former Chelsea host recalled. “A few days later I went to lunch with a friend and she said, ‘I don’t really eat anything. I’m so sick, I’m on Ozempic.’ I said, ‘I’m kinda sick too.’ But I had just come back from Spain and I thought I was jet lagged. I was there about a month. White privilege.”
After learning what the recipe really was, Handler stopped using it but admitted she still has some in her house.
“I’m not there anymore. That’s too irresponsible,’ the Are You There, Vodka? It’s me, the Chelsea author clarified. “I am an irresponsible drug user, but I will not take any medication for diabetes. I’ve tried and I won’t. That is not for me. It’s not for me.”
Richards, meanwhile, has been accused of using the diabetes drug in January 2023 after posting a picture of herself showing off her abs in a swimsuit. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star took to social media to address the speculation.
“I do NOT take Ozempic. Never,” Richards commented on Page Six’s Instagram at the time. The reality star replied to another Instagram user, adding, “I’ve never tried Ozempic and it’s not from plastic surgery. I had a breast reduction in May. I’m honest in what I do. But if plastic surgery makes you feel better then go away sis 😘.”
After slamming the rumours, Bravo personality Melissa Gorga admitted that even she initially thought Richards was using Ozempic.
“I’m not going to lie, when I first saw her I was like, ‘Oh, she’s taking that stuff,'” the Real Housewives of New Jersey star said during a January 2023 appearance on SiriusXM radio show Jeff Lewis Live”. . “And then if they [denied it], I’m like, ‘Oh, OK, maybe not.’ you know i don’t know I didn’t even text her and ask her.”

Kyle Richards
After being accused of using the diabetes drug in January 2023, the Halloween actress set the record straight.
“I’ve never tried Ozempic and it’s not from plastic surgery,” she replied to an Instagram comment at the time. “I had a breast reduction in May. I’m honest in what I do. But if plastic surgery makes you feel better then go away sis 😘.”
Richards also credited her body transformation to going without alcohol for several months.

Chelsea handler
In February 2023, the former Chelsea host opened up about her experience with Ozempic to date.
“So my antiaging doctor just passes it on to everyone, right? Of course, I can’t say her name right now, but I didn’t even know I was there,” she claimed Alex Cooperwho later explained that her friend had told her what the drug was after Handler wasn’t sure what she was taking.
“I’m not there anymore. It’s too irresponsible,” she said. “I am an irresponsible drug user, but I will not take any medication for diabetes. I’ve tried and I won’t. That is not for me. It’s not for me.”

Khloe Kardashian
Speculation sparked that the Kardashians star was taking the diabetes drug after she shared photos of her abs from a January 2023 photoshoot for Sorbet magazine. Kardashian clapped back on social media and denied she was using Ozempic.
“Let’s not discredit my years of training. I get up at 6am 5 days a week to exercise. Please stop assuming,” she replied. “I think New Year still means mean people.”

Rosie O’Donnell
The A League of Our Own actress opened up about her weight loss while on vacation in a TikTok in January 2023. She shared with her followers that her doctor prescribed her a diabetes medication called Mounjaro and a cholesterol medication called Repatha. O’Donnell, who is diabetic, made it clear that she does not take Ozempic and does not take the drug specifically for weight loss.
“And my appetite has decreased significantly, that’s probably due to the medication,” she recalled at the time. “And I’m trying to move more. So you know all those things together, that’s it.”

Remi Bader
The TikToker opened up about her doctor prescribing her Ozempic during a January 2023 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
“[My doctors] said I need that. And I had a lot of mixed feelings,” Bader said after revealing she took the drug because she was diagnosed with pre-diabetics in 2020.
She continued: “I saw a doctor and they said it’s 100 percent because I went on Ozempic. It made me think I haven’t been hungry in so long, I’ve lost some weight. I didn’t mean to obsess over it. I thought I bet the second I get off I’ll be starving again. I did, and my binging got so much worse. So I sort of blamed Ozempic. [I] gained twice as much weight.”

Jameela Jamil
The Good Place graduate has been open about her thoughts on people who claim to only use Ozempic for weight loss.
“I’ve said what I said about the potential harm from people just using the diabetes drug for weight loss. I fear for everyone in the years to come,” she wrote via Instagram in January 2023. “Rich people buy this stuff by prescription for over $1,000. Actual diabetics see bottlenecks. It’s mainstream craze in Hollywood now. HOPE this doesn’t end up like we’ve been told opioids are safe. There is little to no discussion of the side effects in advertising. I am deeply concerned, but I cannot change your mind because fat phobia has a stranglehold on our generation.”
