The perfect measure! celebrity hairdresser Ricardo Rojas got a role in the upcoming season of Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That.
“It was really fun and exciting,” Rojas exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “My character is a barber and it’s so funny because life imitates art.”
While Rojas can’t reveal much about the second installment of the HBO Max series, the beauty guru teased, “It was really wonderful from the start and I have a really amazing scene with it Sarita Choudhury [who plays Seema].”
Like his onscreen character, Rojas has worked his magic on some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Hilary Swank, Karlie Kloss, Emma Thompson and more. His big break came when he moved to New York to work at Oribe Canales’ Fifth Avenue salon. Canales, who died in 2018 at the age of 62, was known for styling A-lister-like Linda Evangelista, Jennifer Lopez And Megan Markle.
“[Oribe] sent me to miami and when i got there he called me and asked me to do it Donatella Versace‘s hair…that was my first big client and she kept me busy for 10 years,” Rojas told us. “She really opened the door for me. I’ve met so many celebrities through her, some of whom came to her shows in the ’90s.”
Rojas’ relationship with the 67-year-old fashion designer led to him collaborating with him Cher. “I’ve done so many campaigns over the years [the singer] and Donatella really was the bridge.”
For Rojas, transforming curls is an experience. He gushed about his latest creation, a glamorous updo Leah Remini for MarcAnthony‘s wedding in January Nadia Ferreira in Miami.
“Leah loves her long hair,” Rojas said. “But for Marc’s wedding she wanted to show off her dress and that was so exciting for me to try something different. So I gave her this very Brigitte Bardot-esque look.”
He continued, “I said, ‘I know you don’t like updos, but I can sense that and it’s going to work.'” The hairstyle was surprisingly easy to create, as Rojas only used “two bobby pins, styling lotion, and hairspray.” To Remini’s surprise, she loved it, revealed the hair expert.
Born in Argentina, it’s all about simplicity these days when it comes to styling. “Less is more,” he told us. “Every product you use or use on hair should have a specific purpose. You want your hair to be able to move freely and not be weighed down, so I’m trying to think about that.”
Regarding the 2023 hair trends, Rojas wants to promote the idea of using hair as an accessory. “That’s the finishing touch,” he said. “This is the last step. I’m also really into wearing my hair down and off my face.”
Rojas also shared his opinion on a highly controversial hair topic: bangs.

“Fringes are very personal,” Rojas told us. “I’m not against bangs, but I think they should be seasonal. For me they are better for winter than for spring and summer. Bangs are ideal with winter clothing such as coats and scarves.”
