I’m A Celebrity will return to ITV in early April, but don’t expect the usual Australian camping trials and audience-voted exits.
As a premiere for this long-running reality game show, I’m A Celebrity will feature I’m A Celebrity All Stars – a “best of” sort of series in which a handful of former roommates are invited to a new camp to survive another stint in the great outdoors – this time you take the action from Australia to South Africa.
“It’s a completely different landscape and they’re competing to be the first ever to be a star legend of the Savannah,” Dec told Lorraine Kelly earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ant added: “It’s good and a little different to the show we do in Australia because they compete in trials and who loses goes so it’s quite brutal. This is how we determine the winner. We had a lot of fun with it.”
Filmed entirely in advance, there will be no audience voting element in this one-off series, again hosted by Ant and Dec – and until recently the names of the returning celebrity housemates were kept secret.
With many famous faces rumored to be returning to the jungle — from contestant Myleen Klass in 2007 to the short-lived appearance of Richard Madeley in 2021 — we now know exactly who is taking part in I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here becomes: South Africa.

Shaun Ryder

Salford-based singer-songwriter and Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder will be spinning his bowler hat in South Africa this April as a contestant on the 2023 reunion show.
Ryder competed in the tenth edition of I’m A Celebrity in 2010 and almost won the game too. Unfortunately, he couldn’t quite call himself King of The Jungle, finishing second behind series winner Stacey Solomon.
Of his return, Ryder said: “All I can remember is eating a lot of penises, testicles and eyeballs. I could have stayed in Australia for another year. I loved living out at camp and had a lot of laughs with my celebrity peers. I know it will be a great adventure to travel to South Africa. I can’t wait to do it.”

Amir Khan

The 2017 edition of I’m A Celebrity featured a performance by former professional boxer Amir Khan – and this year’s series will do the same.
Khan managed to survive 20 days in the outback before being voted off the show and finishing fifth. In the seventeenth series of Khan, British reality star Georgina Toffollo went all out and won the show.
“I’m a Celeb helped me overcome my phobia of spiders and snakes,” Khan admitted while discussing the new series. “It has also made me tougher as a person and I am determined not to be slack when it comes to the trials this time!”
Helen Flanagan

Helen Flanagan, who is perhaps best known for playing Rosie Webster on the hit soap Coronation Street, made her jungle debut in the twelfth series in 2012. She will also travel to South Africa for the latest I’m A Celeb South African appearance .
Flanagan survived 17 days in the Australian jungle before being voted out, leaving seventh place. It was former motorcycle racer Carl “Foggy” Fogarty who was finally crowned King of the Jungle that year.

“I’m not saying I’m going to go in and be a jungle warrior and be absolutely amazing because I won’t,” Flanagan laughed upon her return. “Yes, I’ll be scared, but I’ll try and I’ll be a lot better than last time!”
Jordan banjo

Dancer and diversity member Jordan Banjo learned a lot during his 2016 stint in the jungle — including how to wash up after his roommates. He’ll be back in April to learn more important life skills and possibly emerge as this year’s winner.
However, he failed to bag the crown on his last visit. Instead, it was presenter Scarlett Moffatt who made it to the end, with TV host and comedian Joel Dommett taking second place.
“How many people get a chance to do it twice?” suggested Banjo, announcing his return. “A series with different housemates from years past sounds pretty cool and my fellow diversity dancers are happy to see me suffer again!”
Paul Burrell

From royal butler to jungle camp mate, Paul Burrell made it to second place on his last visit to the jungle in 2004. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough to emerge as the winner of Series Four, with Joe Pasquale taking the top spot with the screeching voice.
“I loved it the first time and to be asked again is very special,” he said, commenting on his upcoming trip to camp.
“It’s like getting to the finals of the Jungle Olympics. I had to eat kangaroo testicles in Australia and I expect everything to be bigger in South Africa.”
Carol Voderman

On the 2016 edition of the show, math genius and former Countdown co-host Carol Vorderman headed into the jungle for a trip to remember. After some close struggles with the public vote, Vorderman finally exited after 18 days and five Bush-Tucker trials.

“Making a celebrity has changed me a lot and I can’t wait to be a part of this new series,” she said. “I loved everything about I’m a Celebrity [the first time round].”
Fatima white bread

Fatima Whitbread’s Olympic endurance was put to impressive use during the eleventh series of I’m A Celeb in 2011. It was even enough to help her finish in the show’s bottom three, just behind second-place soccer pundit Mark Wright and McFly’s series champion Dougie Poynter.
“I learned a lot about myself at the Australian camp and I know there will be some life-size characters and life-size egos in South Africa too,” admitted Whitbread.
“But what a great experience it will be.”
Janice Dickinson

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson wowed fans of I’m A Celeb series seven with her consistent catchphrases and outspoken style. In fact, audiences loved her so much that she eventually emerged as the runner-up for series seven, beaten only by equally entertaining actor Christopher Biggins.
“I’m coming back for more fun, more camaraderie and to see if I get along with everyone,” Dickinson teased
“You never know what’s going to jump up and bite your ass.”
Phil Tufnell

Former cricketer Phil Tufnell has been crowned champion of the show’s second series – and now he’s back for more. Can this previous winner reach the finals again? All will be revealed when Ant and Dec’s new outing returns to screens.
“I’m one of the lucky few who went into the jungle and experienced it all, and that’s what drew me when they called to ask me to participate again,” Tufnell said. “I accepted immediately.”
Who should be on I’m A Celebrity South Africa?
While rumors had it that many different celebrities would be attending this year’s South Africa set special, the final line-up has answered many people’s questions about who will be returning to camp.
That said, it wouldn’t be I’m a Celebrity without a few last-minute surprises — so keep your eyes peeled for more cast announcements to be revealed closer to the show’s debut.
