Jackson celebrities pack the Ballpark for an all-star softball game

JACKSON, Tennessee – Jackson’s celebrities filled the Jackson Ballpark for an all-star softball game!

The Dream Center hosted the first Celerity softball game on Thursday, which featured the likes of WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News’ Brad Douglass.

We’re here tonight, it’s West Tennessee’s first All-Star game and it’s going to be an exciting night,” said Gail Gustafson, Executive Director.

“It’s going to be huge, we’re really looking forward to our first softball game with all the celebrities that are here,” said Stephanie Laffoon, Capital Campaign Manager.

There were many celebrities taking the field such as councillors, commissioners, CEOs, musicians and many more.

“I played college ball at Union, Union University here in Jackson, and I played a little softball in the church league. So just hit where they aren’t,” said Jeremy Stack, Branch Manager for Enterprise Rental Cars.

The game started at 6:00 p.m. when Team City of Jackson took on Team Great American Sports.

“My strategy is don’t get hurt, don’t hurt anyone, and listen to the people who know what they’re doing,” said Olivia Abernathy.

“I have a feeling I’m going to do something. The athlete in me says I’ll do a lot,” said District 2 City Councilman Johnny Dodd.

The City of Jackson beat Great American Sports 10-9. And next, Team JEA took on Team Coca-Cola, who ended in a tie.

Both teams say they had a very fun time. And it was all in an effort to support a great cause.

“I’m just really grateful for the work that Dream Center is doing. They filled many gaps for our community and took care of many families who really needed their support. I’m just willing to cheer them on and raise some money for them,” Abernathy said.

The game ended with a home run derby and awards for players and sponsors.

The Dream Center of Jackson would like to thank its sponsors, players and the ballpark for Thursday’s event.
