Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet fuel couple rumors at US Open

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are sparking more romance speculation with their latest outing.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder and “Dune” actor were spotted hanging out — and enjoying the sport of tennis — at the US Open men’s final on Sunday, as shown in photos from the couple’s appearance. Jenner wore a black T-shirt and matching sunglasses with a Gray Goose Honey Deuce cocktail in hand, while Chalamet wore a dark gray T-shirt with a black hoodie and sunglasses.

In one photo, Jenner appears to be whispering something in Chalamet’s ear during the game, while another shot shows the pair intently watching the tournament along with other spectators.

Jenner and Chalamet’s performance at the US Open follows the rumored couple’s recent appearance at Beyoncé’s birthday concert on September 4th. In a video obtained by TMZ, the actor and the beauty mogul swayed together during the concert and kissed throughout the night.

So far, neither party has confirmed or denied a relationship.

USA TODAY previously reached out to the stars’ representatives for comment on their relationship status.

Many fans expressed shock at the idea that Jenner and Chalamet, both celebrities in their own right but from opposite ends of the Hollywood spectrum, could be a couple.

“Dating Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet feels exactly like two people from your high school who never interacted starting dating six years after graduating,” one X user mused in April.

Similar to our daily lives, when two people don’t confirm a rumored romance, our interest is greater, experts say. We look for signs of attraction between the two and browse their social media posts for sightings. The mystery only adds to our intrigue.

“The more mysterious it is, the more we lean in to learn more,” Amber Kelleher-Andrews, dating and relationship expert, celebrity matchmaker and CEO of Kelleher International, previously told USA TODAY. “We want to know what’s behind that curtain.”

However, for two people trying to quietly try out a new relationship, intense scrutiny can be challenging. Trying to keep things secret can also cause stress and anxiety, which doesn’t necessarily make for a fun or loving start.

And for celebrities, the media faces unique challenges when a new relationship blossoms.

“It’s very isolating,” clinical psychologist Donna Rockwell, co-author of the only published peer-reviewed study on the psychology of fame and celebrity, previously told USA TODAY. “It puts a lot of pressure on the couple because not only are they trying to get to know each other, but they also have to deal with those ever-present paparazzi.”
