LIzzo attended the 2023 Met Gala, acting as the closing ceremony for the phenomenal event that gathered A-listers, top models and all-round fashionistas. While Lizzo arrived dressed all in black with a shower of pearls that looked great on her, her performance was a huge surprise.
Lizzo shone on stage with instrumental interpretations of her songs
While everyone was having a great time, the show had to start and a Lizzo wore a Fendi coat with mirrored sequins and a silver body suit that looked like she’d just returned from the mirror dimensionn, Lizzo complemented the look with over-the-knee boots by Piferi and had exceptionally shiny accessories including Fendi bangles, Swarovski rings and Saint Laurent earrings.
The lights dimmed and Lizzo began an interlude Mozart’s The Magic Flute and then delivered a flawless instrumental cover of “real pain” according to another version of “Because I love you‘ and ‘Good as Hell’. While everyone was admired by her talent, she doubled down by “flight of the bumblebee” in a duet with Sir James Galway, finally ending the evening with the hit ‘It’s About Damn Time’.
Lizzo has attended the Met Gala on a number of occasions
Lizzo is no stranger to the Met Gala, having even had dinner with Anna Wintour the night beforebut last year’s event was themed ‘Gilded Glamour’ and the artist wore a hand-embroidered cape and corset dress.
Lizzo described her experience at last year’s Met Gala, “You have to wait, because for everyone to have that individual moment on the stairs, if there wasn’t such a line, it would just be eradicated,” she told her audience. “So you wait, and that’s the hardest part because, bitch, I was sweating in my thick coat…Can we get some chairs or some drinks or some hors d’oeuvres? But everyone else kind of mixed and mingled. That was the scariest part of me because after the carpet is done I’m the happiest bitch in the world.”
