This peacock spirit was certainly alive and well this past week. Nobody has done better over the past week than Doja Cat, who, alongside other ensembles, covered herself in 30,000 red crystals for the Schiaparelli show. Talk about commitment to the vision. It took her glamor team, led by the masterful Pat McGrath, five hours to pull off the look! At the same show, Kylie Jenner went viral for wearing Daniel Roseberry’s lion head design (rest assured, it was made of faux fur and resin).
Critics might call these approaches to fashion edgy – over the top – maybe even silly. But to us, they are what couture week is all about: stepping out of the box and creating a moment. It’s an event that’s hard to beat in terms of imagination and execution — though perhaps related to the annual Met Gala, which takes place in May. Let’s see what this red carpet has in store – hopefully a continuation of that unrestrained couture energy.
