The Ohio Senate race has taken the national stage, with the winner potentially influencing which party will command a majority on Capitol Hill next year.
Push the news: With just two weeks to go until Election Day, politicians and celebrities are getting involved to try to sway voters to MP Tim Ryan (D) or JD Vance (R).
Details: Ryan is one of the highest-potential US Senate candidates in the country, according to USA Today, but has received far less from national party groups than his GOP competitor.
- Vance has received more than $30 million from national Republicans. According to a report by NBC News, his campaign spent just $3.7 million of its own money on ads.
- On the other hand, Ryan’s campaign spent $24 million of his own money on ads.
The Intrigue: While Ryan may not get national party support, celebrities are popping up for his campaign.
The other side: Vance, who is backed by former President Trump, hosted town halls with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in Ohio last week and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham this week.
What you say: “Tim Ryan says he wants to be the face of his campaign, except when leftwing celebrities knock,” a Vance campaign spokesman told Axios. “Not exactly the image of a working man.”
- Ryan’s campaign did not respond to our requests for comment.
In the meantime, Stars also support other national elections.
What’s next: Fox News is hosting a town hall with Ryan and Vance on November 1 at 6 p.m. in Columbus.
