Paris Hilton, the ultimate ’00s teen icon, just reshared a fan post of her own teenage self on her Instagram story – and she looks so different. The black and white snap is captioned with Paris’ name and “10.” which presumably means 10th grade, making mini Paris 15/16 and not too many years away from being everyone’s it girl to become it girls.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s still distinctly Parisian energy, and she’s sure to be recognizable to any Simple Life fan or anyone who knew young Paris’ face well. But I can’t shake the feeling that she’s changed more than I thought.

Given that Paris has changed little in the past 20 years and has maintained a reassuring continuity in appearance (that has maintained a generation into adulthood), it may be strange to see that just a few years before we all knew her face, with an Alice in School was ribbon, choppy shoulder-length layers and cascading bangs. Basically Paris extensions.

I’m finally glad my secondary school only took photos when you started (cute) and when you left (which I declined to buy). Since there aren’t any, I can easily imagine that I would have looked like the one above.
