Local stars are also appealing to their supporters to exercise their right to vote
Manila, Philippines – Several Filipino celebrities cast their ballots in the 2022 national elections on Monday, May 9th.
Celebrities arriving early in the constituencies included Jolina Magdangal, Kathryn Bernardo, Heart Evangelista, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Mariel Padilla. After voting, the stars took to social media to share their experiences and encourage their fans to exercise their right to vote as well.
Kathryn Bernardo was joined in her vote by her mother, Min, and sister, Kaye.
Jolina Magdangal and husband Rivermaya frontman Mark Escueta wrote a letter to their children Pele and Vika after casting their votes. “This is our acknowledgment that Dad and I stood up, fought and stood up for your bright future,” they wrote. (This is our proof that your dad and I fought for a good future for you.)
Mariel Padilla finished voting as early as 7 a.m. and said she got emotional after voting for her husband, Senator nominee Robin Padilla.
Kim Chiu shared a selfie of her inked finger. “Voting complete. Did my part as [a] Filipino citizen,” she wrote. The presenter also asked her followers to vote wisely, saying that today’s decision will affect the lives of Filipinos for the next six years.
Heart Evangelista cast her vote with her husband, Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero. Escudero is aiming for a comeback in the Senate.

Bea Alonzo called for a “peaceful and orderly” election.
Celebrity couple Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez have ended voting.
Jasmine Curtis-Smith wrote that her voice was for the children. She also encouraged her followers: “Get involved [any way] You can in our communities. Whether loud and big or small and quiet.”
Jodi Sta. Maria shared that she felt “so emotional” filling out her ballot. “Halos napaiyak ako (I almost cried),” she said of her voting experience.
Maris Racal said that she went to the constituency as early as 6 a.m. She also reminded other voters to shade their ballots properly and check their receipts.
First-time voter Francine Diaz uploaded a selfie making a finger heart and saying youth is the country’s future. The young actress turned to her teenage peers, imploring them to choose a leader who cares about their compatriots.
Jake Ejercito shared a photo of his inked finger.
Khalil Ramos reminded Filipinos to vote wisely.
Richard Juan said that even though he wakes up at 5 a.m., he’s still “extra motivated to do something [his] Part.” “This #Halalan2022 will literally be one of the most important in Philippine history,” he wrote.
