Fueled by outrage over the explosive House of Hammer (2022) docuseries, the Call Me By Your Name actor was blacklisted in the entertainment industry and sought refuge in the Caribbean. Though his acting career is suffering a setback, Hammer will face no legal consequences.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced that the charges against Armie Hammer had been dropped due to “insufficient evidence”. Despite what they call an “extremely thorough review.” After briefly working at a Caribbean resort, he is now said to have been back in the United States since early 2023.

A statement released by the LA Attorney’s Office said: “Sexual assault cases are often difficult to prove, which is why we assign our most experienced prosecutors to review them. In this case, these prosecutors conducted an extremely thorough investigation, but concluded: “At this time, there is insufficient evidence to charge Mr. Hammer with a crime.”

The furore surrounding Hammer’s alleged abusive behavior began when an Instagram account dubbed the “House of Effie” began filing charges hammer anonymous. The allegations piled up and more women came forward. The woman identified as EffieSpeaking to CNN on Wednesday, she shared her dismay at the lack of charges against the actor: “I felt compelled to speak up and file a complaint to try to hold Armie accountable for all the damage and trauma to protect other women from similar abuse.”

Armie Hammer has since admitted to being “emotionally abusive” towards his ex-partners, but has insisted he never engaged in criminal behaviour. Hammer recently spoke out for the first time since the allegations, claiming he was molested as a child.
Armie Hammer released a statement following the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announcement. “I am very grateful for that District Attorney for conducting a thorough investigation and concluding that I was watching the entire time and that no crime was being committed,” Hammer said. “I look forward to beginning now the beginning of a long, difficult process of putting my life back in order that my name is cleared”.
