World Environment Day 2023: Bollywood Celebrities Urges Citizens To Do Their Bit To Save Mother Earth
New Delhi: To mark World Environment Day, celebrated globally on June 5th, Bollywood stars took to their respective social media channels to speak out about Mother Nature and the need for everyone to come together and take action to protect the environment. The celebs also stressed the importance of protecting the environment from plastic pollution and refusing the use of single-use plastics. This is what they said:
Actor and climate campaigner Bhumi Pednekar, who also recently became the United Nations Development Program’s National Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals in India, said:
Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay! #DYK? Household consumption contributes to 70% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.

Sharing what individuals can do in a video message, she went on to say:
Imagine a billion people reducing their contribution, being responsible and aware of their environmentally friendly practices. Then this number can drop by 20 percent.
Ms Pednekar further added that climate action is starting now. Sharing what individuals can do, she said:
Turn off the lights, say no to the plastic straw and stop your leaky faucet. Take your tote bag with you. There is so much you can do on an individualistic level.
Ms Pednekar also highlighted her way of saying no to plastic, she said:
I carry my water bottle and cutlery with me wherever I go. I’m trying to minimize my dependency on single-use plastic. You can do the same. This is our planet and we must protect and preserve it.

On the other hand, actor and campaign ambassador Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to talk about waste sorting and management, he said:

Actress Alia Bhatt, who has also been known for many years for her commitment to environmental protection, shared a video of her initiative COEXIST on her Instagram story, explaining what people can do quickly to save the planet, like long showers leave faucets on, keep lights on and appliances plugged in, buy non-local groceries, use private transportation and use plastic products.

Actress Jackie Shroff, known for wearing a necklace of plants at events or bringing seedlings as gifts, is urging people to do their part to save Mother Earth. To mark World Environment Day, the actor shared a video with a valuable message. On Instagram, Jackie posted a video along with a message that read, “Go Green, Breathe Clean.”
In the video he can be seen urging people to stop lying around with the trash. In the pictures, Jackie can be seen posing with plants.
