The glitz and glamor of Hollywood comes to Young Rock.
PWInsider reports that the program is currently casting WrestleMania I-related celebrities for the upcoming third season of the NBC show. According to the report, WrestleMania main eventer Mr. T will be on the show, as will Cyndi Lauper, who managed Wendi Richter in her victory over WWF Women’s Champion Lelani Kai (self-administered by Fabulous Moolah). They are also looking for an actor for Liberace. Along with all the celebs, Young Rock is also in the process of casting WrestleMania main eventer Hulk Hogan.
WrestleMania I is an interesting event considering Rock’s father, Rocky Johnson, didn’t wrestle on the show, but the former WWF Tag Team Champion could very well have been backstage for the landmark broadcast. While the show is looking for actors, the production team has also stepped away from the world of pro wrestling to cast it, as wrestlers Colt Cabana and Luke Hawx have both been brought in to play The Brooklyn Brawler and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, respectively .
“Young Rock” will begin production on season 3 in Memphis, TN due to the COVID-19 pandemic after filming season 2 in Queensland, Australia. While last season featured a confrontation between The Rock and his cousin Roman Reigns, Season 3 will literally see the two go head-to-head as The Rock’s show airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. vs. Reigns on WWE SmackDown ‘ on FOX. The show is scheduled to return to NBC on November 4th.
