Zia Mohyeddin’s demise marks the ‘end of an era’, Pakistani celebrities bid farewell to maestro

Adnan Siddiqui, Faysal Qureshi, Yasir Hussain and others offer their condolences

Pakistani celebrities bid farewell to Mr. Zia Mohyeddin as he breathed his last in Karachi today.

Following the death of the great writer and poet Amjad Islam Amjad on Friday February 10th, the death of Zia now marks the end of an era. The sad news shook the whole nation. Many celebrities from the entertainment industry came forward to mourn the veteran’s death.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui expressed his condolences via Twitter. He wrote: “The arts world bids farewell to a maestro – Zia Mohyeddin – broadcast legend, poetic virtuoso, actor and theater director. As we celebrate his life and legacy and mourn his loss, we are reminded of the immense impact he had on our cultural landscape.”

Meanwhile, Faysal Qureshi shared a picture of him with Zia and wrote: “I am honored that my daughter has had the opportunity to meet and get to know him as I have. The new generation needs people like him from whom they can learn so much. His voice will resonate throughout the literary world. Today is a sad day as we lost a national treasure. A legend the world will never forget and stop loving.”

On the other hand, social activist Muniba Mazari also mourned his loss, calling his death the “end of an era”.

Other celebrities including: Yasir Hussain, Dawar Mehmood, Hamza Tariq Jamil also mourned his death.

Zia Mohyeddin has made a great contribution to the polishing of Pakistani theater. Through his efforts, he has turned the fate of arts and theater in Pakistan 360 degrees in a way that no one has ever been able to. The kind of singing he had while telling a story or poetry is irreplaceable. Pakistan really lost a vote today.
