Alpaca Finance’s new buyback method will be tested first in the BNB-BUSD PancakeSwap vault.

Alpaca Finance, the BNB chain’s yield farming platform, announced it will begin upgrading one of the project’s core products, Automated Vaults, to address the challenges of transaction costs and volatile losses.
Rather than swapping assets on a decentralized exchange (DEX) (subject to price impact and a 0.25% swap fee), Alpaca Finance will allow repurchasers to trade directly on holdings held in the project’s vault without having those fees passed through a new solution accruing is referred to as asset buyback.
Benefits of this buyback system for Automated Vaults investors include lower swap fees, no price impact on large swaps, and more frequent rebalancing. All of these features should directly impact Automated Vaults APR percentage improvement. The team said they repeated the test using this new method and saw significantly improved results.
“Compared to the current rebalancing method, the yield from the buyback is more stable and profitable. Even during the extreme volatility of May-June, the buyback would have been profitable,” said the Alpaca Finance Development Team.
Alpaca Finance will test the new buyback method in the BNB-BUSD PancakeSwap vault. The buyback process is expected to go live around August 25, 2022. The reason for this single vault deployment is that the team wants to closely monitor the vault’s activity and make adjustments on the fly. Once the new buyback method is proven to be beneficial, the project will be expanded to the remaining vaults.
