Arkham claims to have identified the Bitcoin addresses of Tesla and SpaceX, which contain almost 20,000 BTC

Blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence claims to have identified the Bitcoin addresses of Tesla and SpaceX – they collectively hold 19,794 BTC, worth more than $1.3 billion at current prices.

“Arkham has identified Tesla and SpaceX’s BTC holdings. We are the first to publicly identify these on-chain holdings,” the company wrote on X.

Arkham estimates that Tesla currently holds 11,509 BTC at 68 addresses worth $770.7 million and SpaceX holds 8,285 BTC at 28 addresses worth $554.9 million.

Arkham said the on-chain fund flows matched the financial reports of both companies. “Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of BTC in January 2021 and sold BTC twice: Selling $272 million BTC in Q1 2021. Selling $936 million BTC in Q2 2022,” it says it in it.

“Tesla allowed the purchase of Teslas in Bitcoin between March 24 and May 12, 2021,” Arkham added.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk mentioned in a speech in 2021 that the rocket company owned Bitcoin, but how much was not known at the time because the company is private. During the same event in 2021, Musk said that Tesla, the other Musk-led company known for its electric vehicles, had added $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin to the company's balance sheet.

Last year, the Wall Street Journal reported that SpaceX had written down its Bitcoin holdings by $373 million.
