That says Kevin Sekniqi, COO and co-founder of Ava Labs and Avalanche (AVAX) Blockchain

One of the key figureheads of the Avalanche (AVAX) ecosystem, Mr. Sekniqi is unsure whether Bitcoin (BTC) can remain the #1 cryptocurrency with this level of usage and innovation.
Who will surpass Bitcoin (BTC) in 15-20 years?
Sekniqi tweeted that Bitcoin’s (BTC) supremacy as the top cryptocurrency by net market cap in 2022 could be on loan.
It’s quite strange to believe the theory that Bitcoin will stay at #1 in 15-20 years despite lack of innovation or new uses.
It seems fairly reasonable to conclude that the ecosystems that innovate faster will eventually outperform Bitcoin.

This potential “flip” should be attributed to the lack of innovation and new uses for the orange coin, he predicts. At the same time, many of Bitcoin’s (BTC) competitors are “innovative.”
As such, they will most likely “trump” Bitcoin (BTC). And we don’t need to compare Bitcoin (BTC) to gold (XAU) in this case, Mr. Sekniqi points out:
To sue
“Gold doesn’t have to be innovative,” that’s because there’s only a finite amount of scarce elements on the periodic table. Physics isn’t innovative, I suppose.
Its opponents responded that Bitcoin (BTC) could save its top spot due to its decentralization as its main rivals lose it and look for “innovation”.
Scalability instead of centralization?
However, Mr. Sekniqi is certain that innovative blockchains can advance their technical designs without compromising their decentralization.
As previously reported by U.Today, the co-founders of Avalanche (AVAX) and Polygon Network (MATIC) have had a heated debate over how their blockchains are scaling.
Polygon’s Sandeep Nailwal accused Avalanche of plagiarizing the concept of subnets, which are actually sidechains used by Ethereum’s L2s for years.
Avalanche’s Prof. Emin Gün Sirer recommended Mr Nailwal to “be innovative or make fun of him” rather than criticize the technical innovations of the competition.
