Bitcoin is the only “neutral internet money” that will ever exist, says ex-PayPal president David Marcus – here’s why
Former PayPal president and ex-Facebook vice president David Marcus says Bitcoin (BTC) is in a class of its own compared to other crypto assets.
In an appearance on the “What Bitcoin Did” podcast, the founder of Lightning Network payment protocol Lightspark said he now has an “unwavering belief” that Bitcoin is “the only form of neutral internet money that will ever exist.”
“Bitcoin has more regulatory clarity than any other crypto asset on the market. It is widely accepted by many regulated financial institutions. loyalty [Investments] has a Bitcoin-denominated 401k, and there are a number of spot Bitcoin ETFs awaiting approval. At some point it will happen.
And outside of the US, banks can touch and do Bitcoin, and they really want to take advantage of the opportunities that Bitcoin brings.”
According to Marcus, Bitcoin is here to stay because it has “passed the point of existential threat.”
“It’s not completely off the table [existential threats]. But I feel like the land of all the digital assets that you can create and that already exist are by far, maybe even an order of magnitude, better equipped to withstand all of these types of attacks and challenges.”
At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $26,781.
