The decentralized finance ecosystem in XRP, managed by its decentralized network XRP Ledger (XRPL), has made progress following the introduction of Automated Market Maker (AMM) functionality.
According to a post by XRPScan on X (formerly Twitter), the first AMM liquidity pools were created just minutes after AMM features went live. Some pools now contain hundreds of millions of tokens and support pairs like XRP/USD and XRP/BTC.
Automated market makers (AMMs) rely on mathematical algorithms to quote cryptocurrency prices and facilitate trading for users through liquidity poles. This approach allows anyone to participate as a liquidity provider to earn trading rewards and users receive instant liquidity via the above pools.
Introducing DeFi Improvements to XRPL
Ripple Labs announced that XRP Ledger plans to add an AMM engine to its network. After a year of intensive research and development, the feature is finally live.
Adding the AMM engine to XRPL makes token exchanges and liquidity procurement easier, making it more accessible to users and benefiting decentralized applications (dApps), especially decentralized exchanges (DEX).
Additionally, the feature is intended to facilitate the creation of bridges, encourage innovation within the XRP ecosystem, and enable seamless interaction with other blockchain networks.
This means that as XRPL becomes more decentralized, XRP could see a price increase as more users trade the token or pay transaction fees. Additionally, more protocols would start using the token to reward network validators for their tasks.
Meanwhile, the price of XRP fell 3% on a weekly basis, settling at $0.61, according to data from CoinMarketCap. One could say that this is a result of the general market downturn, with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) falling to $64K and $3.3K, respectively, a weekly decline of 7% and 10%. However, analysts say we expect that there will be a new bull market for XRP in the near future, where XRP will reach multi-year highs.
